Antique Three Stone 1.25 Carat Old Mine Cut DiAMOND Ring 18k GOLD Stacker Band 1.25Ctw OMC Trilogy Anniversary Wedding Engagement

Classic old mine cut diamond three stone band. Impactful and sparkly worn alone, and layers well with other bands. This one has a nice height to it with the diamonds propped up in the pronged setting but with sought after 18k yellow gold fabrication for the majority. Wonderfully unique old cut stones totaling around 1.25 carats total weight in diamonds.

Found in England. The piece has faint remnants of antique style hallmarks but nothing is legible. Tests at 18k gold.

With prongs suitable for regular wear. A versatile diamond band!

SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:

Size 4 3/4, a little over. The prongs are good but the shank is a bit thin at the back north to south - Best to discuss extent of sizing with your local jeweler who would be doing the work.

The largest center diamond is 5.6mm and measures about .75 carat alone. The flanking diamonds are about 3.8-4mm and a quarter carat each. I would not remove the stones for an accurate measurement but estimates to around 1.25 carat total weight in diamonds.

The piece weighs 1.85 grams. It stands 5.1mm off the finger. Ring face is 6.2mm wide north to south by 15mm east west measuring the diamond settings.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

Some rub marks to the vertical edges at the base of the prongs and as mentioned the shank is a bit thin as this was worn stacked over the years.

To the eye the piece appears quite clean and wearable with lively sparkling and bright stones, but these are typical antique diamonds with some quirks. The center stone has a small carbon spot hidden in the faceting when face up (ah the expertise of hand cut diamonds, what a joy!) and only slightly eye visible when sought out from the side view, but seen mostly under magnification. One end stone has a notch to the girdle and a flake of loss extending from there leaving a small frosty unpolished spot again slightly eye visible if seeking it out, as it is otherwise clean and appears complete in form to fill the pronged setting. The other end stone has some faint speck inclusions giving it a bit of a frosty spot here and there but again nothing glaring for any of the stones.

I don't prefer to grade my antique diamonds with the Four C's grading scale which came about way later for machine cut diamonds with mathematically perfected facets. The scale does not do antique stones justice as they were expertly hand cut in a much more limited supply compared to the millions of carats of machine cut diamonds made each year now, but I always describe everything seen under magnification with more detail than letter grades provide.

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
