The Story
ABOUT:
This one is Art Deco style but made in the later vintage period. Sparkly wide band with an awesome linear "swoosh" or wave type of design across the front, set with little champagne colored rose cut diamonds for sparkle. The color of the stones makes me like this piece even more than if they were white, with varying light brown to light and dark champagne hues. All set into the contrasting oxidized ring face.
The 39 diamonds graduate slightly in size in each row of the wave. Some of them have a really nice dome as well. With frosted girdles appropriate for the vintage period.
So fun to layer with the movement and sparkle and gorgeous coloring. But also with the wide footprint it can stand alone as well. Found in the UK. Stamped with a maker's mark MDI in one shoulder and 375 in the other, the numerical hallmark used in Europe for 9k gold.
Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos.
SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
It is a size 7. It weighs 3.1 grams.
The ring face is 11.8mm north south.
The diamonds are 1.5 to 2.5mm each. Exact carat weight is unknown with the spready rose cuts with flat backs that face up larger than their carat weight. This piece has the face up appearance of at least a carat total weight, compared to modern diamonds of the same diameter.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Stones are well set with bead prongs in good condition. Typical for small natural rose cuts, they have some inclusions under magnification, some appearing frosty overall. This is seen mostly under magnification and the hues help mask the frost, they have a wonderful dome to their cuts, beautiful color and a great sparkle.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
