The Story
I am back from my inventory trips to Europe and listing an assortment of hand picked antique jewelry which I have selected one at a time from around the world. Some examples seen in the last photo - thanks for stopping by!
ABOUT:
Mr. Mouse and I found this one in Prague on our last inventory trip there last year. It grabbed both of our attentions because the east west setting of the navette shape is so unique, it's got the old cut diamonds for sparkle and the filigree work is so crisp well done.
The three bezel set diamonds total around carat and are risen slightly above the filigree work that surrounds them with swirls, flaring out from center with tidy scrolling details. It's just lovely!
The ring face is propped up on a platform so it is flat across the top of the finger, but curved on the underside for comfort on the hand. It looks great in a ring stack! Smooth and comfortable to wear with the bezel settings and all rounded edges.
As mentioned we found this one in Prague on our recent sourcing trip. No hallmarks remain but - This comes with a certificate from the assay office in the Czech Republic where the metal was tested and verified to 585 (14k gold) with a platinum top. We often see these numerical hallmarks on European pieces where a three digit number is used to represent the parts per thousand of gold (14k being 585, etc.). The certificate is typed in Czech but I use google translate and the numerical details are clear as well. Fun to have the provenance with the piece as to where it came from.
Antique boxes, props, staircases and bannisters ; ) not included. Please note the measurements as I have small fingers and it can be difficult to determine scale from pictures.
MEASUREMENTS:
Size 7.
It weighs 3.3 grams.
Ring face is 10x19mm and 4.2mm tall off the finger.
Exact diameters of the diamonds in the bezels that overlap them is unknown and thereby so is the exact carat weight but using estimates it is around half a carat in diamonds. They are about 3.5mm each just measuring the exposed portions.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Typical antique diamonds with faint natural inclusions including some tiny carbon specks to one that are not eye visible. They are so small, the stones just have tiny speck inclusions seen under magnification. One end stone reads a slight bit more gray in some light conditions. They face up bright and sparkly, overall well matching. A sturdy and ready to wear piece with exceptional details.
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
I would be delighted if you'd follow me in my shop. Thanks for stopping by!
