Vintage PEAR Natural Diamond Solitaire Ring One Carat 18k Gold Bezel Set Knife Edge Band Engagement Stacker

This was a popular one in previews! Such a classic and timeless vintage setting holding the nearly one carat natural pear diamond. I love bezel settings that are so smooth and comfortable to wear.

This one has knife edge shoulders that taper and lengthen up to reach the edge of the bezel at the ring face. The setting and shape lend a wonderful geometry to this sparkler. I can't decide if I like it better with the teardrop facing up or down, which adds a fun stackable element to the piece.

Found in York, England. With full UK hallmarks for Birmingham, 18k gold (750) date stamp 2001.

Antique box not included. Please note the measurements as I have small hands and it can be difficult to decipher scale from photos.

MEASUREMENTS:
Size: 8
Ring face: 9.1mm north south for the bezel, and 4.6mm tall off the finger.
Weight: 3.2g
The diamond is about 8.7x5.2mm. It was sold to me as approximately one carat by the jeweler in York, although I think it might be a bit less as it is more narrow than the diamond charts typical show a one carat pear.
This is an estimate as I would not remove the stone from the setting for exact measurements.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
This one is well priced because the diamond has inclusions. The center of the stone has just a few icy flecks and there is no eye visible carbon. But the north and south sides of the stone have larger crystal formations that can reflect around the stone giving it a frosty appearance overall. Similar to a salt and pepper diamond but without the prolific carbon, it would be considered an I in clarity. The crystal formations affect about 2/3 of the stone. They carry up just under the surface of the stone but do not reach it so there are no chips or cracks although under magnification the crystals under the surface appear as the icy streaks meet each other at various angles within the stone. Lovely sparkle. It is not a dull or lifeless stone in any way, reflects a bit on the gray side in color but the quirks don't affect my love for vintage diamonds. Very stable, sturdy, ready to wear and comfortable!

Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned and in estate condition. They will have patina, surface wear, a few small nicks. These pieces may also have evidence of a sizing, some build up around the stones and / or inclusions seen under magnification, typical for antique pieces. I have mentioned any noticeable issues above and they are all still wearable and eager to be loved and accepted for many years to come, (the preservation of antique jewelry, even those with signs of their age and history, is important to me. : )
But - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. Pictures also serve as part of the description and condition report so please utilize the zoom feature which will magnify any wear significantly more than what is visible to the eye while wearing : )
